Verizon's HopeLine a Potential LIfe Saver for Domestic Violence Victims...

For many victims of domestic violence, a primary tactic abusers use to obtain complete control is to isolate the victim.  It takes a lot of courage to decide to leave and statistics show it can take a victim up to 7 attempts before a successful escape.

Sometimes abusers will install key loggers to track what a victim is sharing online.  Phone tapping is also not out of the question.  It is important for those in domestic abuse relationships to have access to a working telephone, it can make the difference between life and death.

If you know someone who is in a domestic violence situation, there is a way you can help.  Verizon Wireless is committed to helping the nearly one in four women, one in seven men and more than 3 million children in the United States affected by domestic violence. They are collecting no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories and turning them into support for domestic violence organizations nationwide. Through their HopeLine program, they've donated hundreds of thousands of phones and awarded millions of dollars in cash grants to partner agencies.  Please consider donating a telephone for a victim in need, or hosting a drive.
